John Berylson, the owner and chairman of Millwall, passed away on Tuesday morning at the age of 70 following a “tragic accident.”

The London team announced the tragedy on Tuesday night, calling his passing “sudden and tragic” and praising his enormous impact on the Lions.

The complete statement from Millwall said: “We announce the demise of our cherished owner and chairman, John Berylson, with a collective shattered heart and the sincerest grief.

Everyone at the club is praying for John Berylson, who tragically lost his life on Tuesday morning. John, who turned 70 last month, leaves behind his wife Amy, their three children Jennifer, James, and Elizabeth, as well as the rest of the Berylson family.

John’s abrupt and tragic death will undoubtedly have an impact on everyone who was lucky enough to have met him. He was an exceptional individual who was immensely committed to his family and possessed a fantastic sense of warmth, compassion, and love. His life was colourful and full of joy, and he was incredibly considerate of others, always eager to impart his vast wisdom and experiences in order to benefit others.

He has presided over some of the most memorable events in Millwall’s history since initially getting associated with the club in 2006, and his contribution to setting the stage for those events was immense.
