Lincoln Riley is currently the head coach of the University of Oklahoma. He started coaching quite early and is currently one of the youngest coaches in college football’s premier league and for him, this is a dream come true. Prior to his coaching career, he played at Texas Tech as a quarterback.

Riley was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 5, 1983. He attended Muleshoe High School in West Texas where he began his high school career as a defensive end and would later become a quarterback. during his junior and senior seasons. After high school, Lincoln Riley began his college career at Texas Tech University as a walk-on, playing the QB position behind future Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury, who was a senior starter at the time and BJ Symons who was then the replacement..

During his tenure with the team, his players did very well. Wide receiver Justin Hardy broke Ryan Broyles’ record for most receptions in a career and finished his 4-year college career at East Carolina with a total of three hundred and eighty-seven (387) receptions against the three hundred and forty-nine of Broyles. Two years after that, Zay Jones, another receiver recruited by Riley, broke the record again with a total of three hundred and ninety-nine catches.

When his five seasons in East Carolina expired, he was hired by Bob Stoop as the Oklahoma Sooners’ new offensive coordinator. He started his career with the team on a very impressive note, leading the Sooners to the college football playoffs. He bolstered the attacking side of the team that had lagged the previous year, leading them to emerge as the 7th best offense in the nation.

The team also came in 4th in scoring and seventh in yards per game in 2015. He would later win the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant coach of the year.

In June 2017 Coach Rob retired and Lincoln Riley was announced to replace him as the team’s new head coach and that same year Riley, along with Baker Mayfield, led the Sooners to the conference championship Big 12, taking the No. 2 position in the CFP rankings, and they made it to the semifinal matches at the Rose Bowl. In the 2018 edition of the match, they made it to the finals but lost to Georgia in double overtime 54–48.
