'Gilmore Girls' return for Netflix revival

Publish date: 2024-06-07

Only one month to go until we are back in Stars Hollow with Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Sookie and the rest of our favorite gang from one of TV’s most beloved heartfelt dramas. On Tuesday, the show’s first official trailer was released and fans received a nostalgic glimpse of what Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life has in store. Believe us when we say, it feels like we never even left.

The two and a half minute long trailer brings us into the present day lives of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, who still talk to one another without a moment of thought in between and have inimitable pop culture references. Lorelai expresses that lately, things seem “hazier” in her life. She also questionably speaks about her overall happiness with partner, Luke.

Lorelai is not the only one who is feeling lost. It appears to be hereditary. All three of Rory’s former love interests make a cameo in the preview, leading us to think she will eventually end up with either Dean, Jess or Logan. (#TeamJess) However, Rory does admit that this is her time to be “rutless,” having no job or obligations to anyone or anything.

The snippet of the anticipated revival also shows Rory’s grandmother, Emily giving away her possessions, stressing the idea, “If it brings you joy, you keep it. If it doesn’t, out it goes.” It is clear that she is not handling the death of Richard well, who she was married to for 50 years. The character’s portrayer, Edward Herrmann passed away in 2014.
