Who is Fernando Tatis?

Fernando Tatis is a Dominican former professional basketball third baseman and Minor Leagues Baseball (MiLB) manager who played for the Texas Rangers, St. Louis Cardinals, and New York Mets.

Fernando is the only player in MLB history who hits two Grand Slams in one inning during a game on 23rd April 1999. Moreover, Tatis joined the minor league as a manager at rookie-level Dominican Summer League Red Sox teams in 2018.

At the age of 17, Fernando Tatis signed as an amateur free agent for Texas Rangers on 25th August 1992. He played his first game in Major League Baseball with the Rangers. Meanwhile, on 26th July 1997, he played 60 games with the Rangers in his rookie season.

Besides that, on 31st July 1988 Tatis, Darren Oliver, and Mark Little were traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1999, Fernando had the best season of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals while he hit 34 home runs with 107 RBI and 21 Stolen Bases, with a .298 batting average.

Again, in 2000 Fernando Tatis traded to the Montreal Expose with Britt Reames for Dustin Hermanson. He played
208 games over three seasons for Expos. On 25th November 2005, he signed a minor-league contract with The Baltimore Orioles.

Fernando Tatis played periodically for the Mets in 2009 and 2010. On 5th October 2014, Fernando announced his retirement as a player. However, in 2018 January he joined Rookie-level Dominican Summer minor league Red Sox teams as a manager. In addition, he was no longer with the organization entering the 2020 season.
